Grief has been a close companion throughout much of my life – losses through human and animal deaths, relational partings, significant identity and worldview shifts, and heartache prompted by legacies of colonialism and climate change lived heavily within me for many years. These sticky feelings and perspectives diminished my sense of vitality, belonging, and openness, which were compounded by traumatic experiences that made me want to protect myself from the world at all costs. It wasn’t until I started my own therapeutic journey that I began to metabolize my grief and trauma safely and be able to live my life with a sense of expansion, peacefulness, play, and open-heartedness. This has led me to my passion and purpose - holding space for others in their shifting of grief and trauma.

My approach is to build a container of safety, compassion, and empowerment where we work together to holistically process challenging experiences, honour your internal wisdom, develop personalized skill sets, re-write narratives that no longer serve you, and increase resiliency and joy so that you can live your most meaningful life. I enjoy incorporating humour and prioritize creating a strong therapeutic relationship, collaborating in creating personalized plans that promote your desired change, growth, felt experience, and transformation.

Utilizing an integrative lens, my practice draws from training in somatic therapy, parts-based therapies (Internal Family Systems and Jungian informed), mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, attachment theory, and depth, transpersonal, and liberation psychology to provide care that emphasizes holistic mental health backed by clinical research.

While I’m open to working with a range of challenges, my personal and professional experiences have influenced specialized interests in grief and loss, trauma, consciousness expansion and psychedelic integration, life transitions, anxiety, LGBTQ+ concerns, postpartum, perfectionism, gender and sexuality, and existential/spiritual/religious concerns.

When not holding space, I’m tapping into rest and my joys to keep my cup full – learning Brazilian jiu jitsu and ceramics, playing through dance and singing, laughing with friends, cuddling my pup, and hanging out with family.

My experience with loss of various forms have highlighted how overwhelming it can feel to be stuck in grief, as well as the loneliness that can accompany the ever-changing journey through loss. These experiences drive me in my support of those who are processing their own losses, to provide an authentic, warm, and open space in which to heal.

As a Provisional Psychologist, I use an integrative approach to pull from different modalities and techniques to meet my clients’ individual needs. Having worked extensively with children and their caregivers, I strongly believe in an approach that emphasizes the importance of connection and emotional expression. Within the therapeutic support I provide, I believe in empowering each person I sit with to draw upon their internal strengths and resources, while providing compassionate therapeutic support. I believe it is necessary to meet each person where they are at, while recognizing that there is strength and possibility that can be drawn from within, even when grieving. As a heart-centered therapist, I view my role as a guide on the side of my clients’ path of healing. In this way I adopt a non-judgmental approach that emphasizes my clients as the expert of their own life and experiences.

In my free time I enjoy exploring other countries and cultures, reading, spending time with my loved ones, and playing with my senior Dachshund.

Many of us have experienced grief and loss at some point in our lives. Loss includes events beyond the death of loved ones such as loss of trust, safety, hopes, dreams, independence, culture, and various life transitions, to name a few. A significant loss that has influenced me was the suicide of a dear friend. I later realized that, at the time, I was ill equipped to deal with this loss, as I felt I should grieve alone, keep myself busy to avoid the pain, and be strong for others. Having completed the Grief Recovery Method®, I realized that these were myths about grief that I had learned which led me to use unhelpful coping strategies. I am now passionate about helping others work though their grief in ways that will allow them to move beyond the pain and feel emotionally complete.

As a Registered Psychologist and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®, I strive to create a collaborative relationship with my clients. I am passionate about supporting adults, adolescents, and children to work through grief and loss, stress, anxiety, depression, attachment- related challenges, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and/or autism spectrum disorder. While taking a client-centered approach, I incorporate cognitive, mindfulness-based, and psychodynamic interventions into my practice.

During my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, going on walks, exploring nature, watching movies, and listening to music.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to walk alongside those who have experienced grief, loss, and trauma in their lives. I have experienced a number of different forms of loss in my lifetime from the passing of my grandparents and the loss of friendships, to unexpected changes to my own life path. Each experience has left me to question what I once understood and to seek out a new way to be in the world. Through my own experiences of mental health and wellness, I discovered a desire to support others in the way that I was supported to find healing.

As a Registered Psychologist, I have facilitated workshops on Parenting After Separation, ran psychoeducational groups in a school setting, and provided therapy support in both a school and private practice setting. I have supported many people on their journeys through grief, loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, sexual abuse, and more and I am grateful to be able to support my clients as they move through the process of self-exploration and discovery and arrive at a place of meaningful change and understanding.

When I am not at work you can find me spending time with my friends and family, cooking a big meal, enjoying time outside, or engaging in a yoga or meditation practice. I am also an avid reader and love to spend a quiet day or night reading.

Like many sojourning, my early life experiences of trauma and grief accumulated to the point that pain and anxiety were affecting my ability to thrive. When my brother-in-love died from lung and brain cancer in 2018, the tools, training and experience I had through the Crisis and Trauma Resource Institute and facilitating grief group processes through Alberta Health Services, did not take me through the depth of processing I needed. I heard so many great things about the Grief Recovery Method® that I enrolled to process my brother-in-love’s death. The second day into the training my lovely dad died. When I enrolled a second time, I was doubly invested in experiencing more of the heart healing that had begun. I was relieved I could share how my experiences with these deaths felt, without others’ cliches, correction or avoidance. At the end of it, my heart felt so much lighter and peaceful.

My own healing journey and life experiences assist me in offering counselling support with integrity, empathy and compassionate presence in an atmosphere of shared knowledge and hope. I see healing as a sacred process, deserving honour and witness, and growth as partner of healing. I am especially passionate about walking people through the pain which accompanies losses, trauma and grief and what we might call the “dark night of the soul” into illumination that brings transformation. I may often be found saying, “May you recover all (that was stolen from you)!”

I enjoy working from a trauma informed and holistic approach to wellbeing that includes the soul, body and spirit. Our body is often the first signaler of our distress, and our spirit influences our healing and thriving. My future plans include applying the learning and experiences I have gained within the niche of Equine therapy, as horses have been a primary source of learning about attunement, grounding and self-regulation in my early and later years.

In my personal time, I enjoy soaking up time with my family who are the loves of my life, trying varieties of flavoured coffee, adventuring outdoors, and creative arts. I stay centered through my faith experiences and enjoy singing with the team of my church.

My introduction to grief and loss began with the death of my father in early childhood. This experience shaped who I am and how I see the world. Growing up I did not understand that what I was experiencing was grief. The challenge for me was the secondary losses and disenfranchised grief that went along with the event of death. I have had many experiences with grief and loss that inform my work and it makes me appreciate the uniqueness of the individual experience.

It is always a privilege to hear stories and walk along side people as they navigate life after loss. My approach is always to practice with empathy, compassion and safety. I have supported those who are experiencing an anticipated loss, birth trauma, infant loss, infertility, and caregivers in varying forms. My goal is to create a space where people can be unapologetic and free to express and explore their own unique experiences. I work within a trauma informed framework and gently offer techniques and invitations that help regulate the system and calm the mind.

I am a mom of two wonderfully wild daughters that always keep me on my toes. When I am not wrangling my kids, I love to read and eat delicious food that I haven’t cooked.

Online booking is for current clients only. I am not accepting new clients at this time. Please contact our administrative team to be placed on my waitlist. My personal experience with loss has included a range of family members, both human and animal companions. These experiences demonstrated the wide range and complexity of emotions one could feel when they grieve. Through these losses, I’ve discovered that grief is a human experience we all have but one we don’t have to face alone. I was originally drawn into the work of psychology wanting to help people in a meaningful way. Since childhood, I have valued the importance of helping others and believe that therapy is one of the ways I can do this.

As a Registered Psychologist, I value authentic connection and believe it is a true honour to walk alongside my clients in their journey. I primarily work with children, adolescents, and parents but also enjoy working with individuals of ages. My approach to therapy is integrative where I use a variety of therapeutic approaches to customize therapy to individual needs. In addition, I believe that relationships are key to the healing journey and strive to work alongside the adults in the child’s life.

During my free time I like to spend time with my family, learn new things, and travel around Canada and the world. One of my favorite places to go is the mountains!

Through my life experience and educational journey, I have developed a strong passion for serving grieving people in our community. This passion of mine emerged after my dad suddenly died in 2012. This sudden loss was heart wrenching, and life as I knew it changed in an instant. The Grief Recovery Method® equipped me with the tools and an opportunity to heal my broken heart. After completing the program and healing from my emotional suffering, I developed a desire to support others who are grieving.

I am committed to supporting others as they move forward through difficult, sad, and distressing times in their lives. Having the opportunity join people on their healing path has become a deep privilege of mine and something I am encouraged to be a part of. I look forward to continuing supporting people in our community.

In my free time I enjoy trying local restaurants and indulging in wine and cheese nights with friends and family. I always have a travel bug and would say my favorite place I travelled was Italy and France. For self-care, I love running, attending barre and soar classes and cooking new recipes.
